Thank you for organising our tours of Belgrade and nearby areas over the last few days. From the time of our arrival until our departure, we were very pleased with the arrangements. Hotel Nevski is centrally located with an easy walk to the main parts of the city. Our room was well equipped and spacious while the staff were friendly and helpful.

Ranko was prompt and obliging, meeting us from the train and carrying our suitcases for us. His driving skills were excellent and he made sure we travelled to our destinations in a safe manner, always with a smile.

Our day in Belgrade city was extremely interesting as we saw the important buildings and explored the fortress and underground tunnels. Both our guides for the day were informative.

Milena is a wonderful guide. She ensured that we visited the places on our itinerary as well as adding in a couple of extra places that were relevant. She is extremely knowledgeable and gave us a great understanding of historical events and present day life in Serbia. She showed great patience in answering our many questions. Her manner is very cheerful, friendly and caring in making sure that we were well looked after.

We thoroughly enjoyed our short visit and hope that one day we can return to explore the areas of Southern Serbia that we missed this time.

Dear Dragan,

I just wanted to thank you for a nice trip with your company.
Your drivers were amazing, helpful and professional and we all enjoyed having them on the bus with us.
The next time we're coming to Balkan we will ask spesifically for those drivers.

Thank you!

(tour An exclusive Long (eared Owl) Weekend!)

Thank you for your email and have attached photos taken on the Serbian Owl Weekend.

The whole weekend was a truly delightful memorable experience, due to the dedication and passion for the birds by both guides. The itinery was well balanced with plenty of very good cultural and restarant stops along the way.

It was very hard to find a fault, perhaps the hotel dinner was not so enjoyable, but a minor one. The size of the group was very good and worked well. Maybe if there were more people there may have been an issue with room on the bus for photographic equipment, tripods etc.
I certainly hope to return in the future and thank you for your attention.

Kind Regards
Chris Crickmore

Dear Tijana

Many thanks for your email, and apologies for the delay in replying. Please find attached a selection of pictures from the tour.

Everything on the tour went very smoothly and was extremely well organised - thanks to our two excellent guides, Milan Ruzic and David Lindo, and the staff at Magelan. As promised we saw hundreds of long-eared owls as well as lots of other interesting birds, and also had the opportunity to soak up some of the local culture (the visit to the farmstead, where Rada made us very welcome, was particularly enjoyable). We felt very lucky to be with such a friendly and sociable group of people and thoroughly enjoyed everyone’s company. The accommodation was first rate and the food in the various hostelries excellent. Overall a highly enjoyable long (eared owl) weekend!

In terms of possible improvements, we can’t think of anything significant. The only thing perhaps to consider is whether it might be better to return to the hotel for a while late afternoon/early evening to rest/freshen up before going out for a meal in or near Ecka. Once it got too dark to watch birds (at around 16.00), there was an element of ‘killing time’ until dinner at 19.00 or later. However, we do recognise that returning to the hotel before dinner might limit the choice of restaurants.

We’ll certainly consider the Spring tour and let you know if we decide to join it.

Best regards

Janine Lettau and Clive Pickton

Dear Tijana –

I had a FANTASTIC weekend.     The birdlife is very rich and there is a great variety.  The owls are fabulous!  The accommodation at Ecka was excellent and the programme and the organization was also very good.    And Milan Ruzic is a wonderful guide.   He is brilliant, and so nice.

Perhaps next year you could arrange for more sun!

Best wishes,

Tijana Tadic did a great and perfect job for us, thank you very much!!!!

Dear Kornelia,
I hope you are well. In the meantime I have received a feedback from Mr. Lipps - I am sure you remember the tour you have organized for him ;-)

It might be interesting for you what he says about Serbia:
+ the quality of the acommodation was fine, it was exactly what he has expected
+ The guided city tours have been ok.
+ Regarding the route:
- to Novi Sad: the route up to Veternik is dangerous because of the traffic. I would recommend as an alternative the route Celarevo.
- from Novi Sad: the route is as dangerous as before Novi Sad. As an alternative I recommend: Train Novi Sad to Beska, with bike from Beska to Batajnica (new bike trail), approx. 45 km, from there train to Belgrad
- in the tunnels at the Iron Gate it is recommendable to bring along a pocket lamp. Otherwise it is too dangerous. Once again he also would like to thank you for your assistance. His letter shows me that he is very proud to have managed this long distance trail. It has meant a lot to him.
I am looking forward to hear your comments.

With best regards from Austria,

Dear Mrs. Cornelia,

Yesterday we  came back - well and deep impressed - from the pilgrimage.
We had a cupple of meetings (organised and spontaneous) and we lerned a lot about  Serbia, the society, the landscape and the people there.

- The various accomodations was for this experiences very helpful, expecially the private quartier in Baski Petrovac and the open air gallery /Kapitan Misin. The hosts there was very courteously and friendly.

- The handling in all the receptions was easy and uncomplicate, with the exception of the hunting lodge in B. Palanka. We thank you in this case for the quick and obliging help with acommodation in Silver Lake/Villa Lago. So the group has no inconvenience.

- The breakfrast was different; Not in all accomodations we´ve got a coffe; in other hotels we have to order and to pay them extra.

- The bus-agency and all drivers was flexibel and reliable.

- The signposting along the way (we used the Danube-velo-route foundet by the GTZ) was mostly good and easy to find. We bought the maps still in Germany. Do you know this maps?

At last I will thank you in the name of the hole group.
Next year we plan to go throught Romania.  Perhaps we can use your service again. (With busses from this country and drivers speaking the romanian language)

Best wishes

I did have a great time in Serbia and I want to thank you for all your help and advice and pleasant company. I enjoyed the overall feeling of experiencing a country that I actually travelled for the first time (as you will recall,I had only been briefly to Belgrade and Novi Sad before).and that I was very much interested in (music, food, language, religion, history) .If you want me to name some highlights I would recall, amongst others, the lunch in the peaceful and panoramic surroundings of the "Suzanna place" ,the surprising fortress of Smederevo, the Zica monastry , the (monastry ) area of the Ovcar-Kablar gorge, the scenery between Cacak and Zlatibor and the lively atmosphere of Belgrade. And I may not forget ,of course, all these dinners in great atmosphere (Skadarlija, the boats, Novi Sad, Nis....) . The Balkanika DVD I enjoyed most (because they regularly focus on the various instruments it becomes easier to closely follow tthe music). And thanks for the link to Djurdjevdan( my favourite) !

Best regards, Francis
