Modern fortresses were built on the places of previously built fortresses of the times of Romans, Celts, Ottomans, Serbians… During this tour you’ll not only visit fortresses, but you will also hear more about history, culture and tradition of people that once lived here as well as about the rich culture and tradition of people that live here today.

Day 1. BELGRADE – TOPOLA - KNJAŽEVAC (L, D)
Arrival to Belgrade. Panoramic and walking sightseeing of Belgrade (Singidunum) with local tourist guide. Visit to the significant sites from antique Singidunum - Kalemegdan fortress - primary bulit by Celts in the III century BC, Republic Square, Knez Mihailova Street - main pedestrian zone, Terazije, Orthodox church, Parlament. Departure to Orašac, where in a rural household in authentic local ambient with beautiful view on this region of Serbia called Shumadija the lunch will be served. Departure to historical town - Topola and Oplenac, picturesque landscapes with endless clearings, valleys in the heart of Serbia which used to be holiday resorts and the place where the Serbian kings of the Karadjordjevic Dynasty were being buried (uncommonly parks and rich vineyards are situated in Topola town, and on Oplenac – Karadjordjevici mausoleum. Visit to the Foundation of King Petar I, which includes the Sveti Djordje church, the mausoleum of the Karadjordjevic dynasty, Petar`s House, gallery exhibiting personal belongings of kings Petar and Aleksandar, Karadjordje`s Town and the Viticultural House which contains a gallery. Wine tasting the best wines of this area – Sauvignon, Trijumf, Italian Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon... Departure to Knjaževac. Accommodation in a hotel. Dinner. Overnight.

 

Day 2. KNJAŽEVAC – TIMACUM MINUS – BELGRADE (B,L)
Breakfast. Visit to wine cellar in Knjazevac, and vine tasting of of roman wines. Visit to Timacum Minus (Ravna, Kuline or Gradiste) represent a roman habitation that dates from I century AD and latest until the rebuilt in IV century. The site is located north of Knjazevac on the left bank of the Timok river. It is belived that the location was a military camp at the begining which grew in to the fortress in the III or IV century. Lunch. Return to Belgrade.
