On this program, you will have opportunity to meet and visit cultural monuments and take a walk in great nature of Serbia. You will have opportunity to meet and walk on Roman roads and visit some of archeological and neolithical places that some of them are on UNESCO World List. On this visits you will add meeting of Serbian history in Orthodox Monasteries from middle ages that are rich with wonderful frescoes. Also, you will have great and not so difficult walking tours through great nature of our National Parks and mountains from where you will have splendid view on Danube River. All this will be followed with delicious flavors of Serbian traditional specialties (cheese, cream cheese, ham, corn bread, chutney...).

Day 1: Belgrade (D) (approx. 20 km)
Arrival on Belgrade airport. Your host will welcome you and take you to the hotel. On the way to hotel, you will have short orientation tour. Accommodation. In the evening hours, we will take you to welcome dinner in restaurant in Skadarlija, bohemian part of Belgrade. Overnight stay.

 

Day 2: Belgrade – Viminacium – Lepenski Vir – Kapetan Mišin breg - Donji Milanovac (BL) (approx. 230 km)

After breakfast we will start our tour to the East of the country. First stop will be Viminacium, archeological site from Roman period. Visit necropolis and enjoy in guided tour on the land where Romans lived. Continue to Golubac fortress, where we will make photo stop. This fortress was built in Middle Ages and it is one of the most beautiful fortresses on Danube River. Continue to Lepenski Vir. This locality is from neolithical period. This city was place of most imporatnt culture in prehistory. This locality is near Donji Milanovac, center of National park Iron Gate (Eisernes Tor). We will continue to Capetan Misa’s Hill (Open Air Gallery) where we will have late lunch with tradtional Serbian and Vlasch specialties. From here you will enjoy in great view on Danube River and see spectacular sunset. After lunch and time here, accommodated in hotel in Donji Milanovac. Overnight stay.

 

Day 3: Donji Milanovac – Tekije – Donji Milanovac (boat ride – optional 30 eur per person) (BD) L - optional
On this day, you will need to get very early and to take with you your breakfast (breakfast package). We will transfer you to one point in National Park Iron Gate from where you will take walking tour. All the way, you will ride along Danube River and enjoy in its greatness. Arrival in place from where you will need to rich viewpoint Ploče. You will walk through dense forest and arrival on the top (300 m) from where you will have Danube River on your hand and view on Kazan. You will hear only the chirping birds and rustling leaves below your feet. Spend here one to two hours. Enjoy in this magnificent view. Great position for very good photos. Your host will prepare for you in one part of visitor’s center picnic in the nature (option). After lunch we will transfer you to Tekije from where you can take boat ride and return in Donji Milanovac (option). Dinner in the local restaurant. Overnight stay.

 

Day 4: Donji Milanovac – Majdanpek – Rajko’s cave – Donji Milanovac (BD) (approx. 40 km) L – optional


Early rising. Your driver will wait for you and take you to Majdanpek. From Majdanpek to Rajko’s cave, that will be our first stop and visit we will walk approx. 2.5 km with sligth rise last 600 m. Visit Rajko’s cave. Rajko's Cave is named by famous Duke Rajko, that had been lived here in the 19 th century. Cave is very rich with cave ornaments. When you get out of the cave, in front of it rich breakfast will wait for you. There will be all serbian specialties prepared with organic food, natural juices... After breakfast, our host will take us to one small river not far away from Rajko’s cave and show us gold panning procedures (this part of Serbia actually Majdanpek has largest mainers in Europe reach with gold). You can try by your own this technique and maybe you will have lucky. We will continue to Stone Gate where nature make wonder and we will continue by walk approx. 20 minutes to one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Serbia. We suggest you to take lunch in Majdanpek on your way back (option). In the evening hours, return to Donji Milanovac. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel.

 

Day 5: Donji Milanovac – Crnajka – Zaječar (BD) (approx. 90 km)
After breakfast, we will continue to Zaječar. On the way, we will visit small village Crnajka that is surrounded by mountain Deli Jovan and Stol. In this village you will have opportunity to hear legend about magic and to see Miloš tower that was built during Turkish period. This part of Serbia is very well known by magic and expulsion of devil from people. We will visit ethno house where we will see hand works of womens from village. Here you will have small snack. With local guide, continue to Deli Jovan by walk. We will walk approx. 4 hours with medium rise. In the late afternoon hours, continue to Zaječar. Accommodation in hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

 

Day 6: Zaječar – Gamzigrad – Kruševac – Aleksandrovac – Kopaonik (BD) (approx. 240 km) L – option
After breakfast, we will visit National Museum in Zaječar that has in it’s collections artefects from Felix Romuliana, roman town. After visit to museum, we will go to Felix Romuliana. Felix Romuliana is an archaeological site and UNESCO World Heritage Site of Serbia. It is the location of the ancient Roman complex of palaces and temples built by Emperor Galerius. The main area covers 10 acres. On the hill above this town is located tomb of Emperor Galerius to where you will have walking tour with your host. After this visit we will continue to Kruševac. Kruševac was capital of Serbia in middle age and here you will visit Lazarica, church where you will hear a lot of things about great Serbian history till tragic Kosovo Betle in 1389. We suggest you to have lunch with great Serbian barbecue in local ethno house (try also bread with sour cream, baked beans, fried bacon, pepper sauce...) (option). After lunch break, continue to Kopaonik, famous ski resort and National Park. In one of the villas on this mountain, you will be accommodated. Dinner in the hotel. Overnight stay.

 


Day 7: Kopaonik – walking tour (duration 7-8 hours, uprise 415 m, slopes are medium difficulties) (BD)
After breakfast, you will be welcome by local guide and take you to this walking tour. Starting will be from your hotel. This path pass through the middle of Ravni Kopaonik. This part of mountain is cover with coniferous forest, that are mottled with rare plant speacies, water springs and moorland Jankova bara. You will pass by geomorfological monuments, forest, meadows on approx. 900 m above sea level. From some of the viewpoints you will have gorgeous view on whole Kopaonik. In the evening hours, return to your hotel. Dinner and overnight stay. Option: We suggest you to take ride on cable car or try and find out unforgetable feeling during paragliding tour.


Day 8: Kopaonik - Monastery Studenica – Raška - Novi Pazar(approx. 150 km) (BL)
After breakfast, continue to the West of the country. First we will visit Monastery Studenica, that is a 12th-century Serbian Orthodox monastery. It is one of the largest and richest Serbian Orthodox monasteries. The monastery is best known for its collection of 13th and 14th century Byzantine-style fresco paintings. In 1986 UNESCO included Studenica monastery on the list of World Heritage Sites. Continue to Novi Pazar with stop in small ethno household. Here we will have lunch with mix of traditional serbian meals. You will enjoy in delicious flavors and great surrounding nature.Continue to Peter’s church. This is a Serbian Orthodox church, the oldest intact church in Serbia and one of the oldest ones in the region. Continue to Novi Pazar. In this city you will have opportunity to see some of muslims monuments and to visit one mosque. Accommodation in hotel. Overnight stay.

Day 9: Novi Pazar – Pester Plateau - River Uvac - Sjenica (BD) (approx. 200 km)
After breakfast, we will continue to Uvac lake. On the way from Novi Pazar, you will pass through Pešter plateau, that is perfect place for grazing of livestock and it is place where best Sjenica cheese is made. We suggest you to stop and try this cheese. This ride could be a little bit difficult, because of constant rise and lots of serpentine, but you will enjoy it really great nature. Arrival to one small village where is located camp from where we will continue our walking tour. This walking tour will last whole day. You will walk through the most beautifull part of River Uvac. You will walk on the edge of meanders of River Uvac from where you will have opportunity to see Griffon Vulture that is rare bird speacies in Serbia and it is under protection of the country. On the way you can spend certaine time on viewpoints and to enjoy on the view of surrounding nature and River. In the late evening hours, arrival in Sjenica. Dinner and overnight stay in your accommodation.

 


Day 10: Sjenica - Monastery Mileševa – Zlatibor – Šarganska Osmica – Tara National Park (BD) (approx. 90 km)
After breakfast, you will continue to Zlatibor Mountain and stop in Monastery Mileševa. Mileševa is a Serbian Orthodox monastery located near Prijepolje, in southwest Serbia. It was founded by King Vladislav, in the years between 1234 and 1236. The church has frescoes by the most skillful artists of that time, including one of the most famous in Serbian culture, the "White Angel", which depicts an angel on Christ's grave. Continue to Zlatibor. On this most beautiful mountains in Serbia, you will have opportunity to buy on local market hand knitted sweater, hat, gloves… to take a walk and collect herbs for your tea. We will give you certain free time to explore this mountain. In early afternoon hours, we will continue to Šargan, where you will experience one part of beautiful landscape of Tara and Zlatibor Mountain during the train ride. You will enjoy in train ride with this train that makes shape of figure eight (duration 2.5 hours). After ride, continue to Mećavnik, wooden town of Emir Kusturica, our famous film director. Here we will have late lunch or early dinner. After meal, we will continue to Tara National Park. Accommodation in ethno apartments. Overnight stay.

 


Day 11: National park Tara – walking tour approx. 4 hours + boat ride on Perućac lake (BD)
After breakfast, we will start our walking tour through this beautiful mountain. Start will be in front of your accommodation. You will pass through forest and than through semi humid terrain that will lead you to the lake Jarinje (hidden in dense forest). Through the forest you will get out to the road that will leade you to great viewpoint. From this place you will have great view on Drina River and Valey. Near this view point is located Orthodox monastery. Near hotel Beli Bor, by road near the place where cows graze grase, you will return to your accommodation. Terrain is not heavy, you will have very small uprising and very gentle descent. At 14:00, we will transfer you to Perućac lake where we will organize boat ride on this lake. On this road, we will pass by Zaovine lake, also very beuatiful lake. A boat ride will be through the picturesque Lake Perućac canyon to the confluence of the River Brusnica in Drina River (option). This ride is approx. 25 km. Picnic on a boat. Return to accommodation. Dinner in famous restauran „Kod Kurte“. Overnight stay.

Day 12: National Park Tara - Tršić – Novi Sad (B) (approx. 220 km) L – optional
After breakfast, you will start your day on the way to Novi Sad. At first, we will visit Monastery Tronosa (Tronoša). It is in the shadow of the mountain Tronosa (Tronoša). Serbian king Dragutin and his wife, queen Katarina, in 1317, built the monastery. Continue by walk to Tršić. You will have approx. 10 km to walk, uprise 230 m. You will enjoy in nature, surrounding by forest. Arrival in Ethno complex Trsic (Tršić) and at the same time a place where a great Serbian language reformer, Vuk Karadzic, was born.  It has a special cultural and tourist value since it represents a village of the XIX century and in this way it stands like a real museum in the open. It contains 35 buildings that are all in wood and represent typical buildings from period when Serbia states was established. This complex is very famous for its hardworking womens that keep their traditon and old handicrafts. You will have opportunity to see exibition and to buy something of hand made products. We suggest you to have lunch in beautiful environment of Tršić ethno complex (optional). After lunch, departure to Novi Sad. Arrival in Novi Sad in the evening hours. Overnight stay in hotel.

 


Day 13: Novi Sad – Sremski Karlovci – Monastery Grgeteg – Belgrade (bus + walking tour approx. 20 km) (B) L – optional  
After breakfast, we will have sightseeing tour of Novi Sad and Petrovaradin fortress. Novi Sad was extablish only 300 years ago and was part of the Austro-Hungarian empire till 1918. We will enjoy in walk tour through main pedestrian zone of Novi Sad, see Cathedral, Orthodox Church, Patriarchy court... Continue to Petrovaradin fortress. Your vehicle will park in the foot of the fortress and you will need to walk approx. 20 minutes to its top. You will have gorgeous view on Novi Sad. Continue to Sremski Karlovci, small baroque town on Danube River. Sightseeing tour of the city with Chapel of Peace. After sightseeing tour, you will have wine degustation in wine cellar in Sremski Karlovci. Continue to Fruska gora mountain by vehicle. Fruška gora is the oldest National Park in Serbia and it is place of large forest of lime and Imperial Eagle. From Stražilovo, famous picnic place to Monastery Grgeteg, we will have walking tour approx. 3 hours. You will pass through great nature and see some of the important places of this part of mountain. Visit Monastery Grgeteg. (Optional – Ride with Jeeps from II World War). In front of the monastery, your driver will wait for you and transfer you to Krčedin village where is located salas farm. Here we will have late lunch (optional). Salas farm is typical household for Vojvodina, northern part of Serbia. After lunch, departure to Belgrade. Accommodation in hotel. Overnight stay.

 


Day 14: Belgrade (BD) (approx. 15 km)
After breakfast, we will have sightseeing tour of Belgrade. First will have relaxed walking tour in city center: Kalemegdan fortress - primary bulit by Celts in the III century BC. Gorgeous view from the lookout at the confluence of the Sava and Danube River and Novi Beograd is an excellent place for photographing. Walking near Republica Square, Knez Mihailova Street - main pedestrian and shopping zone, Terazije, Parliament, St. Mark’s church. Visit to St. Sava Temple the largest Orthodox Church currently. We will leave you on option to visit “House of flowers”, grave of long standing president of former Yugoslavia – Tito or Royal complex on Dedinje or Museum of Nikola Tesla. Departure to the hotel, leisure time and preparing for the dinner on the boat on Danube River. We suggest you to go to Ada Ciganlija, famous picnic place of Belgrade citizens, where you have lots of contents for relaxation, sport, walking... (option). In the evening hours, we will take you to fantastic food and great view from boat to Belgrade that will fulfill your experience. Return to the hotel, overnight stay.

 


Day 15: Belgrade (B) (approx. 20 km)
After breakfast, transfer to airport. Flight back home. The end of the program.
