Balkan Tour Option I - 12 days / 11 nights

If you want to taste the real Balkan, than this tour is right for you. This tour starts from Belgrade and continues through Western Serbia where you can take a ride with train „Sargan's Eight“. After that you will feel the nature of Montenegro and enjoy the differences of Bosnia.

Day 1. Beograd - Oplenac and Topola - Takovo - Kragujevac (cca 150 km)
Arrive in Belgrade. Travel by comfortable tourist bus through the region of Sumadija to the town of Topola and Oplenac, and the Church of St. George in Oplenac. Travel on through the town of Gornji Milanovac to historic Takovo. Afterwards a visit to city Kragujevac. Diner - a tasting of local specialties, fruit brandy and other fruit produce made in a traditional and healthy way. Overnight.


Day 2. Kragujevac - Sargan Eight - Mecavnik - Sirogojno (cca 150 km)
Breakfast. The tour continues on to Mokra Gora Mountain, stopping first at the old railway, which used to connect Belgrade, Sarajevo and Dubrovnik. Afterwards a visit to the ethno-village of Mecavnik which was created by well-known movie director, Emir Kusturica. Depart for the ethno-village, Sirogojno with its open-air museum, which is famous for its charmingly designed woolen sweaters, among other things. In the evening a traditional dinner with local dishes from the Zlatibor region.


Day 3. Sirogojno - Uvac Canyon - Monastery Moraca - Cetinje (cca 260 km)
Breakfast. Visit to the market in Zlatibor to buy food and drink for a picnic as well as souvenirs. Continue on to Zlatarsko Lake (Uvac Canyon), at the hydro-electric power plant, Kokin Brod. A boat-trip. Afterwards a visit to the Monastery of Moraca from the MiddleAge. Travel continues on via Podgorica to Cetinje, a city of great culture and tradition, which was once the capital of Montenegro. Dinner in a restaurant or hotel with national cuisine. Overnight.


Day 4. Lovcen - Njegusi - Budva - St. Stefan - Cetinje (cca 70 km)
Breakfast. Visit to the Njegos Mausoleum on Lovćen Mountain. Lunch in the village of Njeguši with traditional Montenegrin dishes. Depart for Budva Old Town, and a visit to Milocer and St. Stefan, a unique village which is very popular with tourists. Dinner in the well-known restaurant, Kraljeva stolica. Return to hotel. Overnight.


Day 5. Cetinje - Dubrovnik - Gulf of Kotor - Risan - Perast - Dobrota - Prcanj - Cetinje (cca 90 km) Optional: Cetinje Dubrovnik (cca 250 km)
Breakfast. Depart on a panoramic sightseeing tour of the Gulf of Kotor (Boka Kotorska) visiting the beautiful old coastal towns of Kotor, Risan, Perast, Dobrota and Prcanj plus the Church of St. Tripun, the Clock Tower and the Church on the Island (Gospa od Skrpjela). Optional: An excursion to Croatia, visiting Dubrovnik which is a UNESCO protected town. Free time. Return to Montenegro, dinner in a fish restaurant. Return to hotel. Overnight.


Day 6. Cetinje - Ostrog Monastery - Zabljak (cca 150 km)
Breakfast. The tour continues on to Ostrog Monastery. Ostrog is the most famous pilgrimage place in not just Montenegro, but the Balkans as a whole. After sightseeing depart for the small town of Zabljak and sightseeing at Crno Jezero (Black lake) on Durmitor Mountain. Durmitor is famous for its beautiful glacial lakes and pure nature. Overnight.


Day 7. One-day trip - Durmitor and rafting on the Tara
After breakfast, a trip lasting all day; rafting on the Tara river. Dinner in a log-cabin with national dishes. Late return to Zabljak.


Day 8. Monastery Mileseva Sjenica - Monastery Sopocani Novi Pazar Monastery Djurdjevi Stupovi (cca 250 km)
Breakfast. Trip to the monastery at Mileseva, which is on the UNESCO list of protected sites. The trip continues on through the town of Sjenica to the Monastery at Sopocani whose frescoes are some of the most beautiful from the Byzantine period. Arrive at Novi Pazar. Dinner at a hotel with traditional dishes.


Day 9. Monasteries Studenica - Monastery Zica - Vrnjacka Banja Spa (cca 150 km)
Breakfast. Travel through the Lilac Valley to the Monastery of Studenica which is the most important Serbian monastery complex from the Middle Ages. Afterwards depart for the Monastery at Zica, it was built in 1208. Arrive at the spa Vrnjacka spa before evening. Dinner. Overnight.


Day 10. Vrnjacka Banja Spa - Krusevac - Lazarica - Belgrade (cca 250 km)
Breakfast. Depart for Krusevac. On the way stopping at Lazarica and a monument dedicated to the heroes of the battle in Kosovo against the Ottoman Empire. Travel on to Belgrade. Sightseeing in the Serbian capital. Free time. Traditional Serbian dinner in Skadarlija.


Day 11. Belgrade - Fruska Gora Mountain - Monastery Krusedol - Monastery Grgeteg - Sremski Karlovci - Novi Sad - Belgrade (cca 250 km)
Breakfast. Depart for the monasteries of Krusedol and Grgeteg, two of the 17 monasteries on Fruška Gora Mountain. Visit to Sremski Karlovci, an old baroque town with a rich cultural and historical past, nestled between the River Danube and Fruska Gora Mountain. Depart for Petrovaradin Fortress one of the best preserved military fortifications in Europe. Depart for Petrovaradin Fortress one of the best preserved military fortifications in Europe. Dinner of regional dishes from Vojvodina, in a pleasant atmosphere to the sounds of traditional music.
